Born and raised in London, Phil has been enjoying the music scene and buying and collecting vinyl for over 50 years!
Following Art School he opted for a career in advertising and marketing working for several major London agencies on many blue chip accounts including RCA records before moving to Emsworth at the end of the 80’s. “I’ve always loved vinyl”, says Phil. “Everything about it. It’s sound, it’s feel it’s size, it’s smell and, of course, the LP covers. There have been many iconic covers over the years and many of them are true works of art”.
Like everyone else in the early to mid 80’s Phil embraced the new, revolutionary, digital CD format, but he still didn’t stop buying vinyl. ” The 90’s was a great period for picking up some great albums for next to nothing from charity shops and the like because everyone believed that the vinyl era had come to it’s end, but sadly those rich pickings are no longer there as the shops have become vinyl ‘savvy’ “.
Phil gave up full time employment several years ago and now owns and runs ‘Harbour Records’, a vinyl record shop in the heart of Emsworth selling an extensive range of quality, original LPs and 45s as well as CDs and DVDs. Pay him a visit – you won’t be disappointed.
