Richard Marsh presents Soul Train Live on Friday evenings from 7.00 – 8.00pm.
Known by his friends and people on the local soul scene as Tricky, Richard was born in Petersfield and moved to Waterlooville in 2017. He is a family man married in 1981 with a son and two daughters. His interest in music started in 1972 as a 16 year old DJ playing at youth clubs and village halls.
Through the 70s his roadshow moved on to much bigger venues and also resident club work until he retired from the music scene the year he got
married. In the 90s, wanting to get his son into sport, he then got involved in youth soccer which lead to him taking his coaching badges, reaching a full coaching certificate and working with the FA on development which he did for over 20 years.
Through the 90s to the present day Richard has also been guest DJ at local soul music events which is the reason behind his show on The Flash. The Soul Train is a trip through soul music of the 60s and 70s but also touches on other years if the songs meet the same criteria. Some of the music played is from his vinyl collection which he has put together over many years.
Apart from family, magic moments for Richard have been being involved in a goalkeeping session with the great Ray Clemence on the old Wembley pitch, aseing one of his trainees sign a £15m contract for Arsenal, meeting Edwin Starr on his tour bus and chatting for over 40 minutes and getting the chance to join the wonderful Flash team and to present his own show on the radio.
