Colin Harris presents The Sensational 70s Show on a Sunday morning between 8.00 and 10.00am.
He is a fifties boy, born to a large male orientated family (youngest of 7 boys) on the edge of Portsmouth. His earliest recollections are being on the terraces at Fratton Park and listening to Rock and Roll, mainly Elvis.
Colin’s first concert was at Portsmouth Guildhall when he was 14- he was flashed at in the underpass before seeing Uriah Heep! The 70s were brilliant years for Colin and he travelled all around to see the best at the time – The Who, Genesis, Yes etc. When he started university in Swansea in 1975 the first band he saw and helped to unload equipment for was 10CC.
Colin’s career was spent in education, and eventually he became a local headteacher in the Flash area. However he always maintained a love for music and, in particular, the incredible period that was the 1970s.
Colin’s show on a Sunday morning is like a time travelling music box. How is it possible to forget what you did this morning, but remember who you danced with when a particular track comes on! His first single purchase was Get it On by T.Rex and the first album he bought was Gather Me by Melanie. He now plays only vinyl and has an extensive collection.
The 70s show is a collection of memories, showcasing the best and sometimes worst of that classic decade. There is always a glam spot at 8.30am and the show is open to requests.
