Martin has a passion and love for northern soul music, starting right back in his mid teens when he went to his first scooter rally – and there it was – northern soul music. He fell head over heels with it and from that moment on was hooked!
Fast forward just a few (!!) years to now, and Martin’s life has been somewhat colourful and eventful – but northern soul has remained a constant. From the 100 Club in London to the all-nighter dance floor in Brighton, Martin’s love for northern soul music has never dwindled- which is why he loves presenting The Northern Soul Hour on The Flash.
Martin spent most of his life living and working in Berkshire and Surrey but moved to the south coast just over eight years ago with his family to further his pub landlord career at The Woodman in Purbrook. It was here where Martin Kirby and he were first acquainted as he hired him for our weekly karaoke. They became good pals and Martin was invited to do a stint on The Flash. Martin couldn’t quite commit due to a very busy work life and even busier family life – but after being made redundant in June 2024, he became more free, so re-joined The Flash DJ team and now presents every week.
Martin’s show is varied and you will be able to catch the classics from the scene mixed with some rare choices plus a few controversial tunes too! (we dare to be different!). And the show always ends with the iconic ‘3 before 8’. Keep the faith.
